The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers and families.

Montana's Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies are celebrating the Week of the Young ChildTM!

Region 1 • The Nurturing CenterRegion 1

*This event has been postponed. Check back for updates. On Tuesday, April 25th, 4- 6pm, The Nurturing Center will be hosting the 5th annual Blue Ribbon Child Abuse Prevention Celebration at Lawrence Park.  We hope your organization will wear blue and join us in creating a community event with food, music and family fun, while standing together against child abuse. There will be free food and everyone in our community is invited.  We’ll once again be making our Human Blue Ribbon to demonstrate our commitment to the prevention of child abuse.

 

Region 2 • Child Care ResourcesRegion 2

On April 24, there will be a Free Family Fun Night at the Carousel, Caras Park, from 4:00pm-5:30pm.

On April 25, Caring for Children, Our Best Investment will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, Missoula. It is sponsored by Healthy Start and Child Care Resources. The workshops are approved for Child Care Training credit.

  • Workshops 8:00 – 11:00 AM
  • Recognizing and Responding to Concerning Sexual Behaviors
  • Introduction to the Community Resilience Model
  • Luncheon – 11:30 – 1:00 with keynote speakers
  • Discussion – Supporting Families and Strengthening Your Workforce – 1:15 – 2:30

Region 3 • Butte 4 C'sRegion 3

  • Butte 4-C’s is promoting NAEYC daily activities. Post pictures of your celebration using #WOYC2017#Butte4Cs.  Enter to win prizes. The more you post, the more chances you have to win!
  • Butte 4-C’s Spring Conference is April 29
  • Butte Public Library Story Hour is Tuesday at 6:30pm and Friday morning at 11:15

Region 5 • Family ConnectionsRegion 5

A Celebration for Providers

Providers will submit essays that answer a series of questions related to being an early care and education professional.  Entries received by April 21 will be entered into a daily drawing for materials and equipment to be used in their classrooms related to the theme of the day for the week. We are currently asking local business to sponsor the prizes, quality child care is an key part of our community’s infrastructure.

A Celebration for Families

Families are being asked to submit a quick essay answering the question, “Why do you appreciate your child care provider?”  Entries received by April 21 will be entered into a daily drawing for family friendly prizes. 

Any family that comes into the offices during the week of the young child will also receive a seed planting kit and information on planting the seeds of success for children.

Please join us for an event to celebrate the youngest people in our community! Through a collaboration of all the child care facilities in Choteau as well as numerous organizations throughout our community and surrounding area, we will provide children ages 0-5 and their families a free event to learn, explore and connect with agencies providing services to these children and families.

Sidney; Sunrise Child Care Association - SCCA is participating in the week of the young child, following each day’s curriculum; with Saturday being Park day, 2-4pm

Glendive; Big Sky Child Care Association - BSCCA is participating in the week of the young child, following each day’s curriculum; with Friday being Parade and Park day, 10am – 1pm

Region 7 • District 7 HRDC Region 7

Friday, April 21 HRDC7 Hosts a special “Kick off to the WOYC: Stories with Froggy!”  Time: all day   Location: HRDC

Saturday, April 22 “Billings AEYC Hosts Community Story Time with Special Guest Froggy!”  Time: 11am  Location: Billings Public Library

Sunday, April 23 “Billings AEYC Hosts Community Story Time with Special Guest Froggy!”  Time: 1pm  Location: Barnes and Noble

Monday-Friday April 24-28

  • The Billings AEYC each year rents out a Character costume and conducts two community events for the children and families of Billings. 
  • In addition, businesses whose employees are members of NAEYC borrow the costume during the Week of the Young Child to use at their programs.  This year, our Character is Froggy.

Thursday: Kountry Kare (am) & Little Sprouts (pm)

Friday: Center for Generations (am)
