October 2016 - Disability Employment

  • Approximately 1 in 8 working-age adults in the United States have some type of disability. Those with disabilities are more likely to have fair or poor health, live in poverty, have less than a high school education, and if in the labor force, to be looking for work.
  • Montana youth with disabilities now have greater access to work experiences and higher education through the Montana Pre-Employment Transition Services.
  • Living Well and Working Well with a Disability are provided by Montana Centers for Independent Living to help people reach life goals, such as employment, through peer support and improved health.
