Governor Gianforte Visits Long-Term Care Facility Participating in Walgreens Vaccine Program

Governor Gianforte Visiting Long-Term Care FacilityHELENA, Mont. – Governor Greg Gianforte today visited a long-term care facility in Helena participating in the Walgreens vaccination program.

“The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter thanks to these safe, effective vaccines, especially for the most vulnerable Montanans in our long-term care facilities,” Governor Gianforte said. “Because of the efforts of Walgreens, residents can hug and spend time with their family again.”

The governor talked with vaccinated residents and staff, as well as residents’ family members, at Renaissance Senior Care about what receiving the COVID-19 vaccine means to them.

Through a contract with the federal government, Walgreens is vaccinating residents and staff in long-term care facilities and assisted living facilities across Montana.

Since beginning the vaccine program on January 4, Walgreens has hosted 270 vaccine clinics and administered doses to more than 12,300 long-term care facility residents and staff in Montana. At each long-term care facility and senior living facility in Montana with which Walgreens had a federal contract, Walgreens held three vaccination clinics, providing a vaccine to any resident or staff member who wanted one. Walgreens will finish its clinics in Montana on Wednesday.

Under the Gianforte administration, Walgreens was entered into the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program and began offering vaccines at nine stores in Montana on March 5.
