Children’s Trust Fund receives sponsorship from Blue Cross Blue Shield
Funding to support Strengthening Families Month activities in April
The Montana Children’s Trust Fund (MT CTF) announced today it has received a $10,000 sponsorship from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana (BCBSMT). These funds will support Strengthening Families Month activities in April and help raise awareness of the prevention of child abuse and neglect across Montana. Activities will include Pinwheels for Prevention and #GoBlue Mondays.
MT CTF officials say everyone in the community plays a role in raising children and strengthening families. The MT CTF is partnering with organizations across the state to raise awareness of the resources available in Montana to strengthen families and keep children safe.
The funds from BCBSMT will be used to distribute 4000 blue pinwheels, as well as other Strengthening Families Month materials, throughout Montana. The pinwheels symbolize a happy, healthy childhood and convey the message that every child deserves to be raised in a safe, nurturing environment.
The #GoBlue Campaign encourages everyone to wear blue and share their pictures on social media using the hashtag every Monday in April to show support of Montana families and the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
The MT CTF raises awareness in communities statewide. “Strengthening Families Month is something everyone can participate in,” said Melissa Lavinder of the MT CTF. “This is something we all can wrap our arms around in support of children and families.”
This is the fifth year that BCBSMT has sponsored Strengthening Families Month and MT CTF. “Children are our future, and we want to ensure they grow up in safe, stable, loving environments and relationships,” said John Doran, BCBSMT Vice President of External Affairs. “Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana is honored to continue its support of the Children’s Trust Fund and its efforts to strengthen families across our state.”
Numerous organizations are receiving support to participate in Strengthening Families Month activities, including BCBSMT, Butte 4-Cs, Explorer’s Academy (Billings), Alliance for Youth (Great Falls), MSU Cascade County Extension, Thrive (Bozeman), Shodair Children’s Hospital (Helena), Family Support Network (serving Crow Reservation), Early Childhood Coalition Greater Helena Area, The Nurturing Tree (Glendive), The Nurturing Center (Kalispell), Child Start Inc. (Missoula), Anaconda-Deer Lodge Public Health Department, Anaconda Family Resource Center, Daniels County Health Department, Park County Early Childhood Coalition, St. James Episcopal Church (Lewistown).
