DPHHS employees make $3500 donation to the Friendship Center of Helena
Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) Director Sheila Hogan delivered a $3,500 check to the Friendship Center in Helena on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
The donation is from the annual DPHHS employee holiday fundraiser with all proceeds benefitting the local shelter. DPHHS began the fundraiser 27 years ago. All funds collected are from employee donations.
In addition to the monetary donation, the agency collected 23 boxes of food and personal care items such as bed sheets, pillows, dishes, food, laundry supplies, bath towels, and toys.
Friendship Center Executive Director Jenny Eck said the donation comes at the perfect time. “This donation will have a significant impact on the lives of the men, women, and children the Friendship Center serves,” she said. “We thoroughly appreciate DPHHS for their continued support.”
DPHHS staff held craft and bake sales, a chili-cook-off, 50/50 drawings, raffles and silent auctions at several DPHHS office locations throughout Helena over the past few months. Donation boxes were also set up at various Helena office locations as well.
The Friendship Center is the only shelter in Lewis and Clark, Jefferson and Broadwater Counties that provide a safe haven and a broad range of support services at no charge for anyone who has suffered domestic violence, sexual abuse, or stalking. http://thefriendshipcenter.org/what-is-the-friendship-center/
