DPHHS Director Sheila Hogan, Great Falls Health Officials to Host Medicaid Expansion Roundtable Friday, February 1

Director to also highlight new Medicaid expansion dashboard that provides local information

GREAT FALLS – Department of Public Health and Human Services Director (DPHHS) Sheila Hogan and several Great Falls health officials will participate in a roundtable conversation about the importance of Medicaid expansion in Montana on Friday, February 1 at 10 a.m. at the City-County Health Department located at 115 4th Street South.

Hogan will hear firsthand from local health officials that provide critical services to the nearly 95,000 Montanans who have access to health care through the program.

In turn, Hogan will share information about the agency’s new Medicaid expansion dashboard that offers information about the health benefits and local impact of Montana’s Medicaid expansion. The dashboard can be found here: medicaiddashboard.mt.gov

The dashboard offers a county-by-county snapshot of the health impacts results to date, showing exactly how Medicaid expansion enrollees are accessing preventive care.

For example, in Cascade County there are 7,336 residents enrolled in Medicaid expansion, or about 9% of the population. The dashboard tracks the number of times local residents in each county have accessed various health services, including primary care visits, breast cancer screenings and diabetes diagnosis. Since the program first launched, Cascade County residents have accessed over 7,600 preventive services, including nearly over 2,500 mental health outpatient services, 900 breast cancer screenings and 600 colon cancer screenings.
