Pinwheels for Prevention Planting April 17 at noon
Governor Steve Bullock will join representatives from the Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS), Montana Children’s Trust Fund (MT CTF), and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana (BCBSMT) for a Pinwheels for Prevention planting event on the Capitol north lawn Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 12:15 p.m.
Joining Governor Bullock will be DPHHS Director Sheila Hogan; Leslie Caye, Chair of the MT CTF; and the John Doran, BCBSMT Vice President of External Affairs.
Volunteers from participating organizations, the Helena community, and attendees of the Prevent Child Abuse and Neglect Conference will be on hand to help plant about 1,500 Pinwheels in front of the Capitol.
Pinwheels for Prevention is a national public awareness campaign built around the symbol of the pinwheel. The pinwheels are happy and uplifting symbols of childhood that convey the message that every child deserves a chance to be raised in a healthy, safe and nurturing environment.
The event is being held in conjunction with numerous Strengthening Families Month Activities around the state throughout April.
Also, Montanans are encouraged to participate in Go Blue Mondays. Go Blue Mondays are an opportunity for Montanans to join many communities throughout the state and nation to promote Strengthening Families Month. People are encouraged to wear blue throughout each Monday in April and share their pictures on Facebook using #GoBlue to show support of families and the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
