Montana Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) Information

Due to the volume of children who will be included in the 2nd summer issuance and the timing of the information received, data processing and validation has taken longer than anticipated. 2021 - 2022 School Year P-EBT

Children under age 6 as of August 1, 2021 and enrolled in SNAP between September 2021 through May 2022.

$35 per eligible child per eligible month for September, 2021 through December, 2021. Benefit amounts for January 2022 through May 2022 will be determined later this summer.

School year P-EBT benefits will be issued on the SNAP card in which SNAP benefits were issued for that particular month.

School year P-EBT benefits for the months of September 2021 through December 2021 will be issued by the end of July, 2022.  P-EBT benefits for the months of January 2022 through May 2022 will be issued by the end of August 2022.

Summer 2022 P-EBT

  • Children enrolled in school and who were eligible under the eligibility guidelines of National School Lunch Program (NSLP) during the last month of the school year are eligible for the summer P-EBT benefit.
  • Children who are determined newly eligible for free or reduced-price school meals during the covered summer period (must contact their school district to apply) will be eligible for the summer P-EBT benefit.
  • Children under age 6 as of August 1, 2021 and who receive SNAP during at least on month between June and August 2022 are eligible for the summer P-EBT benefit.

June 1, 2022 – August 29, 2022

A ONE-TIME benefit of $391 per eligible child in the household distributed either September or December issuance period.

If a household has an open SNAP case, benefits will be issued on their active SNAP card for children under age 6 otherwise a new P-EBT card will be mailed to the address provided from the schools. Please allow 7-10 business days to receive your card upon the release date of benefits.

Please advise in order to activate your P-EBT card, you must use your eldest child’s (if more than one eligible child in the household) birthdate.

Summer P-EBT is tentatively scheduled to be issued by the middle of September 2022 if school districts submit eligibility information by 6/30/22. For children whose information is submitted by school districts after 6/30/22, issuance is tentatively scheduled for November 2022.

The summer P-EBT benefit will be a onetime issuance.
