State Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup (SEOW)

The  State Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup (SEOW) is a collection of epidemiologists, data experts, and other key personnel brought together from across Montana for the purpose of identifying, interpreting, and distributing data relevant to substance use and mental health (SUMH). The SEOW aims to inform prevention practices and policies by providing meaningful data about the consequences, related behaviors, and contributing risk and protective factors of SUMH disorders in Montana.

To achieve and sustain its mission, the SEOW implements tasks that are oriented with the following four key objectives:

  1. Identify, analyze, profile, and share data from existing national, state, regional, and local resources.
  2. Create data products that inform prevention planning, practices, and policies.
  3. Develop the capacity of the prevention workforce to understand and use data in an accurate and effective manner.
  4. Build and maintain state and local level monitoring and surveillance systems.

Vision

Comprehensive substance use and mental health (SUMH) data that are easily accessible and interpretable by all.

Mission

To efficiently identify and communicate quality Substance Use and Mental Health data that inform practices and policies that aim to reduce the burden of SUMH disorders in Montana.
