Apostilles

The Office of Vital Records issues birth and death certificates and completes marriage and divorce searches. For many situations, an Apostille may be needed on these. This is done by the Secretary of State office. When requesting a birth or death certificate or a marriage or divorce search by the Office of Vital Records that will require an Apostille, please note that on the application and be sure to reach out to the Secretary of State office so that they are aware the certificate or letter will need an Apostille. Apostilles do require a fee of $10 that should be paid to the Secretary of State and should not be combined with the payment to the Office of Vital Records. Please see the Secretary of State Office’s website for more information: Apostilles & Authentications - Official Montana Secretary of State Website - Christi Jacobsen (sosmt.gov)
