Eastern Montana Veterans' Home (EMVH) - Glendive
Volunteers provide the residents with extended families. There are hundreds of volunteers from all over the state of Montana that give of their time and efforts to make the veterans feel special. The local volunteers always provide parties for special occasions and parties just because they care.
The facility has special friends that come in and provided the residents with the warm, cuddly licks and friendly wet noses. Pets and children are the most anticipated visitor for the residents. Families are encouraged to bring in their pets for visits. They brighten all the lives of residents and staff alike.
The Residents asked if the facility could lower the flags when one of their fellow veterans passed away. With the generous help of the Montana National Guard Thrift Store and the Eastern Montana Veterans Home Foundation a facility flag was designed. The flag will be lowered to half staff for two days to honor a resident who passes away at EMVH.
EMVH proudly displays a sign made from Put-In-Cups, which were used to create a design on the EMVH chain link fence to honor United States veterans. The sign can be seen at the back entrance of the facility and was completed by Mark Simonton, as part of his Eagle Project.
David Stock, DO, is the Medical Director for EMVH.
Dr. Stock graduated from medical school at the University of Health Sciences, COM, in Kansas City, Missouri in 2000. He completed a Rural Tract residency program through the Montana Family Practice Residency Program in Glasgow, Montana in 2003. Board certified in Family Medicine, Dr. Stock also has certification in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

The Dawson County High School Industrial Arts Class built a large gazebo for the residents and families to be able enjoy the outdoors and have a place to visit. This gazebo is a must see structure. The kids made sure that every service is represented on the gazebo. These classes have also poured all the walk ways in the courtyard, placed a large water fountain in the yard for the birds, wildlife and the watching enjoyment of the residents.
The funds for these projects were donated by various Montana Veterans Service Organizations. These organizations are very giving to our residents without them the extra’s would not be possible.
The EMVH Veterans Memorial Flag was lowered to half-staff for the first time to honor Wally Samuelson who joined the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. In June of 2006 Wally moved to the Eastern Montana Veteran’s home where he enjoyed wonderful care until coming back to Watford City on Friday evening, November 13th.
The Eastern Montana Veterans Home (EMVH) installed a chain link fence in the facility courtyard. The Montana National Guard Thrift Store provided the funds needed to install the fence. The youth of our community have designed and provided all of the improvements to the Courtyard. Boy Scout of America, Mark Simonton installed the cup art to the fence to earn his Eagle Scout badge. The cup art includes each branch of our Military, an American Flag, a Support our Troops ribbon and a large EMVH.
Charlene Pontoriero, Family Nurse Practitioner, provides services in a variety of areas and locations, including Gabert Clinic, EMVH, and the After Hours/Outreach Clinics. She attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, where she received her bachelor's degree of nursing and a master of nursing in the Family Nurse Practitioner program in 1992. As a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, she specializes in family medicine care for all ages, health prevention, maintenance and education issues.
She lives outside Fairview with her husband, Guy Pontoriero.
