Montana Resources
- Montana Office of Public Instruction (OPI) - OPI maintains a very well organized website dedicated to school nutrition programs. The site contains guidance and resources on several topics ranging from nutrition standards and school wellness to farm to school programs and training events.
- School Nutrition Programs- The School Nutrition Programs unit administers school-based child nutrition programs throughout Montana on behalf of the Office of Public Instruction's Health Enhancement and Safety Division.
- Montana Team Nutrition- the training arm for school nutrition programs and builds support for healthier school environments through food service training, nutrition education and implementation of the school wellness policy.
- Montana School Nutrition Association - Montana School Nutrition Association is dedicated to protecting and enhancing children's health and well-being through school meals and sound nutrition education.
CDC Resources
- Nutrition Statistics (CDC-Division of Adolescent and School Health) - Provides an overview and statistics on the nutrition and health of young people.
- School Health Guidelines to Promote Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (CDC) - Developed in collaboration with nutrition and physical activity experts across the nation, the Guidelines identify the most effective policies and practices schools can implement to help young people adopt and maintain healthy eating habits and a physically active lifestyle.
- School Nutrition Association - A national, nonprofit professional organization representing school nutrition professionals across the country. They provide many resources and programs such as Breakfast in the Classroom , School Food Equipment Grants, Sanitation, Food Safety and Employee Safety and Local School Wellness Policies.
USDA Resources
- Fuel Up to Play 60 -National Dairy Council® (NDC),National Football League (NFL) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture team up to encourage youth to eat healthy and move more. Adults and students work together to choose and implement school-improving changes that best meet their school's wellness goals.
- Smart Snacks in School Rule - Defines nutrition standards applicable to all snacks and beverages sold on school campuses during the school day. They must be implemented by the start of the 2014-15 school year.
- Nutrition Standards in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs - Provides an overview of the final rule and additional resources for school health professionals including a PowerPoint presentation.
- Team Nutrition - An initiative of the USDA Food and Nutrition Service that provides training, technical assistance and free materials for nutrition education to support healthy eating and physical activity.
- Tools for Schools (USDA) A collection of nutrition policy and resource materials for schools.
