Become a VISTA

The Montana Community VISTA Partnership (MCVP) is an AmeriCorps VISTA Intermediary project. Throughout the year, MCVP recruits and places VISTA members with a variety of government agencies and nonprofits around the state of Montana. Our VISTAs are motivated, passionate, talented individuals looking to build their skills while engaging in meaningful work.

Typically, MCVP recruits VISTAs from March - June, and September - December every year. Our VISTA projects lean into one of three focus areas - healthy futures, education, or economic opportunity. Our VISTAs serve with food banks, family services agencies, DPHHS divisions, city government, and many other kinds of organizations.

VISTA members work to build the capacity of communities to mitigate social and health risk factors by forming partnerships and coalitions, mobilizing resources by raising funds, applying for and securing grants, or soliciting in-kind donations, and by establishing community service as a major solution to combating poverty at the community level. VISTAs also identify current needs in the community, work with local community development councils, expand the use of volunteers and community service programs, build lasting community coalitions, and more!
