STARS Training Information

All STARS trainings hosted through www.ChildCareTraining.org are free of charge, dependent on funding.

Training is conducted by a variety of entities and in a variety of ways.

  • STARS to Quality Essentials (formerly STARS Readiness) – this training is available via Child Care Training.org
  • Program Administration Scales and Business Administration Scales training These trainings will be available through the CCR&R.
  • Food Safety Course – Direct food service staff must take an approved Food Safety Course.  If this course is taken in person, it must be offered through a County Health Department, City/County Sanitarian, or Extension Agency and be a minimum of 3 hours.  Individuals may also take the Food Safety course at Child Care Training.org to meet this criterion.
  • Environment Rating Scale Training - To be determined
  • Introduction to the Pyramid Model and Pyramid Model: MT Blended Module 1- These courses are available at Child Care Training.org
  • Healthy Smiles: Promoting Oral Health in Child Care – This training is available at Child Care Training.org. This course provides instruction for early childhood professionals about the development of oral health in childhood, the scope of dental disease in children in the United States, the causes of tooth decay, and prevention strategies that can be implemented as part of the daily routine in early childhood programs.
  • Medication Administration Training II- Medication Administration Training II is available through Child Care Training.org.
  • Medication Administration Refresher must be taken every three (3) years after completion of I and II. This course is available at Child Care Training.org.
  • Introduction to the Montana Early Learning Standards – this training is available at Child Care Training.org and is being rolled out throughout the year to cohorts.
  • Inclusion 1: Foundations for Inclusion –Available at Child Care Training.org with an option for academic credit. EDEC 340 is a 3 credit course and is an acceptable equivalent for Inclusion I and Inclusion II; this course is available through the University of Montana.
