Strategic National Stockpile & Emergency Medical Countermeasures

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) maintains the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) which is a national repository of antibiotics, chemical antidotes, antitoxins, life-support medications, airway maintenance supplies and other medical assets. The mission of the SNS is to deliver critical medical assets to the site of a national emergency. During a public health emergency, the SNS can rapidly supplement and re-supply local medical supplies and equipment if necessary.

Montana has agreements with local and tribal health jurisdictions to maintain plans to receive and distribute urgently needed medical supplies that may arrive through the SNS or other sources.
