Mission: Provide objective oversight to promote the efficiency, effectiveness, and integrity of Department programs, and ensure the health and safety of those we serve.
Services:
- Approving and monitoring nurse aide training programs
- Certificate of Need program
- Certifying health care services
- Conducting retrospective reviews of Medicaid provider claims
- Detecting and investigating abuse and fraud committed by recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Medicaid and Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)
- Determining medical necessity for prior authorization of medical services and requests for durable medical equipment
- Licensing health care and residential services
- Maintaining a certified nurse aide registry
- Paying for beneficiary’s private health insurance when it is cost effective
- Performing federally mandated quality-control reviews of the Medicaid and SNAP
- Recovering recipient overpayment claims for TANF, Medicaid and SNAP
- Reducing Medicaid costs by identifying others responsible for paying a beneficiary's medical expenses
- Reporting House Bill 45 Nonprofit Hospital, Critical Access Hospital, and Rural Emergency Hospital required documents
- Reporting SNAP benefits stolen by means of a Cloned EBT Card
