Public Health System Improvement

The Public Health System Improvement Office (PHSIO) within the Public Health and Safety Division (PHSD) works with Montana’s 60 local and tribal public health jurisdictions and partners to improve the health of Montanans. The PHSIO is comprised of three programs: Local and Tribal Support, Performance Excellence, and Workforce Development. Our team of nine people is dedicated to improving Montana's public health system. The work of the PHSIO is supported by the Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG).

The Public Health System Improvement Office is a proud partner of Montana 21C. Through the Montana 21C efforts, PHSIO completed an assessment of all 60 local and tribal health departments on the delivery of the Foundational Public Health Services. To learn more, visit the Montana 21C website.
