Red Tape Relief
On January 5th, 2021, Governor Gianforte Signed Executive Order No. 1-2021 which created the Red Tape Relief Advisory Council tasked with implementing regulatory reform. The order recognized that excessive, outdated, and unnecessary regulations cause great economic harm on the people and businesses of Montana while also reducing the efficiency of governmental operations.
DPHHS has requested your help and wants to hear from you. We encourage you to submit your ideas using the DPHHS Red Tape Relief Form. We also encourage you to reach out to other Montanans and encourage them to submit their ideas for regulatory relief.
Here are a few things to consider as you help identify burdensome, unnecessary regulations:
- Please organize issues by division when possible. (Division sites)
- Please be prepared to identify a specific problem and solution before completing the online form. Here is an example:
PROBLEM
The Montana Administrative Code has stifled the growth of my successful business, XXXXXX. My business produces YYYYY in a safe and secure way, but MAC XX-YY-ZZZ requires this additional resource that provides no safety or monetary benefit for YYYYY, but does increase our cost of business while barring us from accessing wholesale retail outlets unless we comply.
SOLUTION
Reform MAC XX-YY-ZZZ to no longer require this additional resource or provide an exception for industries not originally contemplated in the original regulation. So long as other safety standards are met XXXXXX should be permitted to sell YYYYY to wholesale retail outlets.
Please submit your proposals using DPHHS Red Tape Relief form or by emailing Bailey Yuhas.
