Behavioral Health System for Future Generations Commission Meeting is Thursday, Friday in Billings
Focus is on children’s mental health system, and family and caregiver supports
The Behavioral Health System for Future Generations (BHSFG) Commission is scheduled to meet on Thursday, Jan. 11 from noon to 5:30 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Billings at the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch located at 1701 Ray of Hope Lane.
The meeting will take place in the Robbie Chapel.
The focus of the meeting will be on the capacity of the children’s mental health system, and family and caregiver supports. All meeting materials, including a meeting agenda, are posted online on the commission page.
The public is encouraged to attend in person, or remotely via Zoom from the BHSFG or Montana Legislature websites.
In June, Governor Greg Gianforte signed House Bill 872 into law, making a historic $300 million investment into reforming and improving Montana’s behavioral health and developmental disabilities (DD) service systems. It is the largest investment of its kind in state history.
The BHSFG Commission members include service providers, legislators, and Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) officials who are responsible for preparing and presenting behavioral health and DD reform recommendations to the governor including priorities for funding.
The commission meets approximately every six weeks to gather information from DPHHS, service providers, and panels of community stakeholders, many of whom have direct experience with individuals living with behavioral health conditions and/or developmental disabilities. The meeting agenda allows time for valuable public comment.
Future meetings will continue to occur in various locations throughout the state.
