New Hire Reporting Program

State and federal law requires employers to report all employees hired or rehired to the New Hire Reporting (NHR) Program. 

Employers must report newly hired and rehired employees within twenty (20) days from the date of hire.

The information reported is matched against open child support to: locate non-custodial parents, to establish paternity and child support orders, as well as enforce existing orders. 

New hire information can also be used by the state to help detect and prevent fraudulent payments of unemployment insurance, workers compensation, and welfare benefits.
