Rural Health Transformation Program Five Core Initiatives
A total of $233 million in RHTP funds is available to fund five core initiatives: Workforce Development, Sustainable Access, Innovative Care Models, Community Health and Prevention, and Technology Innovation.
DPHHS will collaborate with rural providers, hospitals, community organizations, and other health care stakeholders to deliver five core initiatives tailored to Montana's rural health care challenges.
*Please note that $12 million in RHTP funds are allocated to administering the program.
A total of $21 million in RHTP funds is available to focus on increasing recruitment, expanding clinical training, and retaining various levels of rural health care providers in strong partnership with the Montana Department of Labor and Industry.
A total of $82 million in RHTP funds is available to stabilize rural facility finances through restructuring recommendations and increased clinical and administrative partnerships. This component includes funding for the expansion of telehealth services, linking rural hospitals with statewide specialists, and providing one-time-only awards for necessary telehealth equipment.
A total of $29 million in RHTP funds is available to strengthen and expand value-based payment models and better leverages EMS and pharmacy services, with an emphasis on reducing emergency room admissions and other preventable high-cost care interventions.
A total of $56 million in RHTP funds is available to provide for infrastructure upgrades and initiatives that incentivize healthy lifestyles and increase health care access points, including expanding primary, behavioral, and dental health services in schools through partnerships with Federally Qualified Health Centers and other providers.
